Art Farm Iowa will exhibit a new group of paintings from Arizona artist Janel Garza.
Garza’s signature artistic style of combining patterns, symmetry, and natural colors evoke the same feeling as Frank Lloyd Wright drawings and designs, which are not only prevalent in the Southwest, but also nearby to Art Farm Iowa as being a pre-eminent region of Prairie School Architecture.
ABOUT JANEL
Arizona based artist and designer Janel Garza has been developing her distinct style since childhood. As the daughter of an elementary art schoolteacher, Janel was introduced to an array of artistic mediums at an early age. In this environment, Janel learned to dive freely into whatever creative endeavors she felt drawn. While her main medium is acrylic paint, Garza continues to work with a variety of materials. Whether it’s delicate wood jewelry, hand-dyed textiles, or large-scale murals, Janel’s distinct aesthetic is ever present.
Janel’s current work has been heavily influenced by the surrounding Sonoran Desert, a passion for medicinal plant studies, and the clean, orderly shapes found in modernist architecture. Rather than expressing an overt message, the aim of her work is to create an abstract sentiment with a sense of balance, harmony, and interconnectedness.
