WHY A TRACTOR TOUR?
Music projects such as the Tractor Tour are rooted in American history with the Federal Music Project (1935-1943), a New Deal program under the Works Progress Administration that employed thousands of out-of-work musicians during the Great Depression, providing these musicians jobs as performers and teachers while also give the public concerts, music education, and low-cost entertainment. This period created a significant, lasting impact on American music education and appreciation. It also provided inspiration for Woody Guthrie’s Columbia River Collection, where Woody wrote 26 songs in 30 days. Many of these songs are considered Guthrie classics.
The Tractor Tour brings live music directly to our communities, reaching people where they live and gather. It’s a celebration of small-town life, connection, and the belief that creativity thrives even in small communities.
