Artist Vince Larue Opens “Bare Dreams” at Gallery 818 on April 10
Vince Larue unveils Bare Dreams, a visionary new exhibition of pen and ink drawings opening at Gallery 818 in downtown Northwood on Friday, April 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Art Farm Iowa, the exhibition invites viewers to step into the surreal and sublime as Larue presents expressive figures, raw emotional textures, and dream-state narratives in his drawings.
Visiting Northwood from his home in Cherbourg, France, Vince has made numerous trips to the United States since 2012 resulting in his artwork being featured in graphic novels, on posters and in exhibitions. It was during a trip to Phoenix that Vince met Steve Hanson of Art Farm Iowa, and the two have been friends ever since.
Bare Dreams explores vulnerability, longing, and the thin veil between waking life and imagination, offering a personal encounter with the stories we hold beneath the surface. Vince’s drawings are inspired by life and music.
“Bare Dreams is about stripping away the noise and confronting what remains,” says Larue. “Working in black pen and ink is a discipline. It sharpens intention and leaves no room for hesitation.”
This exhibition continues Art Farm Iowa’s mission to cultivate contemporary artistic dialogue in rural communities, transforming spaces like Gallery 818 into platforms for bold, thought-provoking work. By supporting artists like Larue, Art Farm Iowa fosters access to innovative cultural experiences in North Iowa and beyond.
An opening reception will be held at Gallery 818, welcoming the public to meet the artist and experience the exhibition firsthand. Bare Dreams will be on view until May 31st.
