Art Farm Iowa Presents “Shaping Space”: New Exhibition by Janel Garza

Art Farm Iowa is pleased to present Shaping Space, a solo exhibition by artist Janel Garza, on view from August 8 through November 15, 2026, at Art Farm Iowa in Northwood, Iowa.

Known for her striking compositions and geometric patterns, Garza creates works that explore harmony, balance, and the interconnected relationships between people, nature, and the built environment. Through vibrant color, layered forms, and carefully constructed spatial arrangements, Shaping Space invites viewers to consider how the spaces we inhabit influence our experiences, perceptions, and sense of belonging.

A native of Arizona, Garza originally pursued studies in environmental science and herbal medicine before shifting her focus to the arts after relocating to downtown Phoenix in 2012. Since then, she has developed a distinctive visual language that blends organic inspiration with precise geometric structures, creating artwork that is both contemplative and dynamic.

“Janel’s work encourages viewers to slow down and observe the relationships between shape, color, and form,” said Steve Hanson of Art Farm Iowa. “Shaping Space aligns beautifully with Art Farm Iowa’s mission of connecting creativity, place, and community while bringing contemporary artistic voices to rural Iowa.”

The exhibition transforms the gallery into an immersive environment where patterns, repetition, and spatial relationships become a visual conversation. Visitors will encounter works that suggest movement, rhythm, and connection, offering new ways to experience the intersections of art and everyday life.

Art Farm Iowa is a rural arts and agriculture destination dedicated to celebrating creativity, preserving rural life, and fostering cultural experiences in agricultural communities. Through exhibitions, performances, artist residencies, and community events, Art Farm Iowa continues to demonstrate its leadership in offering cultural experience for nearby community members and beyond.

Shaping Space will be open to the public from August 8 through November 15, 2026.
