ABOUT KIKI VALDES

Florida based artist Kiki Valdes, explores identity, culture, and memory through his vibrant and expressive drawings and paintings. Valdes finds inspiration from his multicultural upbringing, blending elements of his rural Cuban heritage with contemporary influences and seamlessly blends art historic perspectives, encompassing figurative abstraction, landscapes, expressionism, and surrealism, with a nostalgic nod to the pop culture of the mid to late 19th century in the United States.

Kiki Valdes was born 1981 in Miami, FL and majored in painting at the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Recent solo and past exhibitions include Club Gallery (2023), The Walls Have Ears at Westchester Cultural Art Center & The American Museum of The Cuban Disapora (2023), SwampSpace (2017) , Hollywood Art and Culture Center (2016) , Miami Dade Public Library System (2015), National Arts Club (2014) among others.
